Ononuju Irukwu is an Investment Management Professional with over 2 decades of experience in Investment Management & Personal Banking with responsibility for developing and managing client portfolios both offshore and onshore. She is currently the Head of Private Banking at FBNBank UK, a First Bank of Nigeria subsidiary with a focus on Nigerian and West African High Net worth individuals.
Ononuju has gained extensive knowledge having worked in some of Nigeria’s leading Investment banks, Discount Houses and International Banks. She was the Managing Director, Chapel Hill Denham Management Limited a leading Investment Management Company in Lagos, Nigeria with responsibility for the Wealth and Asset Management business. She was also Head of Wealth Management at FBN Capital, a First Bank Group Company and prior to that, was Head of Priority and Excel Banking, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, where she had responsibility for developing and managing local and offshore investments. She has managed accounts across borders dealing with Partners in London, Isle of Man, Dubai, Singapore and New York. She has a broad based experience in both Retail Banking and Investment Management having spearheaded product development in institutions such as Intercontinental Bank( now Access Bank), Standard Chartered Bank and FBN Capital Limited and Chapel Hill Denham.
Ononuju is passionate about financial literacy and is committed to ensuring the investing public is sufficiently informed and prepared to plan, save and grow their assets during their working life. She wrote a personal wealth column with ThisDay Newspapers Nigeria for over 6years and speaks regularly at seminars and conferences for teenagers, women and youth entrepreneur groups.
She is a fellow of the Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM), Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (CIBN) and a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD Nigeria). She was the Chair of the Channels Working Group of the Financial Inclusion Technical Committee of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and President, Fund Managers Association Of Nigeria(FMAN)
